Endometriosis is a condition where the tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (called the endometrium) grows outside of the uterus, typically in the pelvic area, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, and bowel.
The tissue outside the uterus is also affected by the menstrual cycle and will thicken, break down, and bleed, leading to pain, inflammation, scarring, and adhesions.
The most common symptoms of endometriosis are related to pelvic pain. Endo can cause pain during menstruation due to the inflammation brought on by the hormonal changes during your period, but can also cause pain between periods. Other symptoms include abdominal and back pain, heavy bleeding during periods or spotting between periods, stomach and gut issues, pain during sex, and infertility.
Endometriosis is progressive and can worsen with time. There is still plenty of research that needs to be conducted around endometriosis, its causes, and treatments. However, women living with endometriosis can work with healthcare providers to manage symptoms and improve daily life.
What is endometriosis?

At Papaya, our team work collaboratively to ensure you receive the best care for your condition. You will receive a personalised pain management plan that may include:
Naturopathic & nutrition services: dietary changes, managing inflammation, optimising the gut and vaginal microbiomes, managing pain levels and regulating hormone levels.
Acupuncture services: stimulate blood flow, restore balance in the body, use Chinese herbal formulas to support the body's innate healing, and relieve pain.
Pelvic health physiotherapy: strengthen pelvic floor muscles and improve flexibility through exercises and manual techniques.
The pelvic area is complex. That’s why our physios aim to address every element that may be contributing to your pain. Your plan is designed to help you live a long and happy life without the pain and discomfort of endometriosis or pelvic health issues.

We take a comprehensive and personalised approach to your care, and will collaborate with our naturopaths if appropriate for your condition.
