What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a holistic health practice, grounded in evidence-based science and traditional healing practices designed to address the root causes of illness by understanding the interconnected systems within your body and supporting its natural ability to heal.

Our naturopaths are utilise dietary and lifestyle interventions, herbal medicine, prescription supplements, specialised testing, and targeted nutrient support to address a wide range of women’s health concerns.

Some of the conditions we work to support women with include pelvic pain, menopause, endometriosis, vaginal health, gut health, hormonal conditions like PMS, PCOS, painful and irregular periods, and fertility guidance.

True health is more than the absence of disease - it's the ability to thrive physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Written by our Pelvic Health Physios and Naturopaths, this guide is actionable and digestible. Together we look at what is microbiome, what products and food types enhance microbiome, and how it impacts everything down there during menopausal years.

A flowchart illustrating a health improvement process with three stages: 'Address Root Cause' with investigation and identifying root cause through testing and tailored treatment; 'Habit Formation' involving collaboration and accountability with engaging experts and personalized check-ins; and 'Healthy Ageing' focused on maintenance through biological balance, sustainable behaviors, and ongoing support, emphasizing follow-up with expectations for noticeable improvements within 2-3 sessions over 3-6 months.

  • Whether you are looking to conceive for the very first time, or you have been struggling to conceive for over 6-12 months, we examine all the factors at play when optimising and supporting fertility.

From sub-par blood and semen markers, vaginal and/or gut microbiome dysfunction, to heavy metal toxicity and nutritional imbalances.

Considering the time it takes for these factors to be corrected, we aim to have your body rebalanced within approximately 3-6 months.

  • It’s important to optimise your vaginal bacterial balance in order to prevent vaginal and urinary infections, have a healthy pregnancy and for sexual wellbeing. Naturopathic tools such as herbal medicine, dietary changes and topical therapies can target specific vaginal health concerns and break the cycle of recurrent symptoms.

  • The menopausal transition affects each woman differently - with changes in body composition, bone density, hormones and pelvic health occurring over time.

The hormonal shifts can be managed with the right naturopathic treatments to help you feel more energetic, sleep better, improve your moods and manage weight.

Our women’s health naturopaths at Papaya are here to encourage you to embrace the transition of menopause rather than fear it.

  • The integrity of your intestinal cells and gut lining is foundational to the absorption and utilisation of nutrients from your food. If compromised, this may appear as prolonged bloating, gassiness, reflux, constipation, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, or nausea.

By understanding your gut microbiome, identifying possible food intolerances, pinpointing nutritional imbalances, and thus making adjustments to your diet and supplementing where needed, we will observe positive downstream effects on your detoxification capability, immune and reproductive health, and vitality.

  • At Papaya Clinic, we support individuals who identify as neurodivergent or who have been diagnosed with conditions including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD/ADD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Together with the support of other specialists such as occupational therapists, psychologists, and speech therapists, we look to restore balance to your neurotransmitters and gut microbiome, detoxification pathways associated with environmental toxin accumulation, and inflammatory pathways that impact healthy brain function.

  • Hormonal imbalances can wreak havoc on your moods, energy levels, libido, monthly cycles and skin.

At Papaya our women’s health naturopaths investigate the root cause of your hormonal symptoms using functional pathology and thorough case taking.

  • Endometriosis is a complex condition that is thought to affect 1 in 7 women.

Naturopathic support can reduce discomfort of monthly cycles, reduce painful sex as well as bloating and bowel symptoms.

The specific remedies your practitioner uses will depend on your overall health, your specific symptoms, as well as other conditions you may also have.

A treatment plan for endometriosis may address dietary changes, managing inflammation, optimising the gut and vaginal microbiomes, managing pain levels and regulating hormone levels.

  • Understanding your baseline metabolic activity and driving factors is key to achieving lasting change without the rebound effect.

We help you navigate the complex landscape of possible drivers including: insulin, oestrogen metabolism, thyroid imbalance, nervous system dysregulation, heavy metal toxicity, insomnia, nutritional imbalances and cravings, genetics, polypharmacy, and inappropriate exercise routines.

At Papaya Clinic, we equip you with bite sized and body-specific know-hows so you can implement lifestyle habits that have you feeling and looking your best.

By working with a holistic practitioner, we can get to the root cause of your health issues by providing you with the tools and support you need.
